It’s clever and amusing. A little mind twisty and fun… If you weren’t allowed to change anything – where in time would you go back to?

Again, thrown into the hot and chaotic, bustling world of Makana. Finding the bad guy, and exploring his moral compass, makes for another thrilling mystery – although with the added characters it felt a little less real and more “shoot ’em up and save the world” in style.
Brilliant, beautiful, and evocative without being effusive. This tore at my heart and placed me amongst the players. The lie, the fear, the truth and the pain.
It is so hard when everyone in the bookshop raves and raves about a title. The expectations become unattainable, except when you’ve got a tale like this. I’m saving it for a reread in Summer, because I’m certain there are more subtleties that I’ve missed. A great debut.
Having subscribed to the blog for over ten years, I was giddy with excitement to see the book. Bold, brash, and unapologetic Ash serves up her own expertise and experience in a really rather refreshing manner that will push you into thinking along entirely different lines to what your career is ‘meant’ to look like.
Read in a single sitting – it’s beautiful, real, heartwarming, funny and a real tear jerker.
Ok, it took me three goes to get in, but holy hell what a ride when I did!
Politics in the underworld and non-stop action as gangs contend and vie for property and placement. Closed the book and felt almost as exhausted as the characters – Fantastic!
The complications that made me lose track in the last book have all disappeared in this tale. Complicated, twisty and brilliantly put together; history and mystery meld together in a crime that take technology and harnesses it for evil, not good!
I am adoring this series – the writing, the atmosphere, the twisty mystery, colour and characters! Something for those who want a bit of depth and difference to the usual 1920’s whodunnits!
A great mystery, with a budding investigative reporter, a ghost and a washed out detective. This has great good guys, spectacular bad guys, and is cleverly crafted to keep the Grott Monster’s attention right through til the end!
